New Studio Space!!!

I just want everyone to know that I have relocated back into the Crossroads Arts District.  The studio is now at 2010 Baltimore on the fourth floor above the Leedy-Voulkos Art Center.  It's a beautiful studio with open areas, a full bathroom, huge kitchen, and wall of windows for great natural lighting.  If you'd like to stop in for a visit, please let me know.

I am also renting out the studio to artists for First Friday art showings.  If you know of an artist that would like a place to host a party and hang their art, have them call me.

The studio is also available for other photographers to rent on a daily basis, and for events and other functions.

Below are recent photos.  Thanks for stopping by the blog.  I hope to see you soon.

Ringside World Championships

My friends at Ringside Boxing asked me to shoot some photos at their event at the KCI expo center.   For any boxing fan, this is the event.  Six rings with matches going on simultaneously.  Check it out!  It goes on thru Saturday.

Out takes for a recent shoot......

When shooting food, it's very much a hurry-up and wait type of day.  So between shots, I grabbed the camera, wondered and shot some fun images.  Enjoy!!!

Behind the Scene.....

Ever wonder how we make the photos looks so good, day after day?  It takes a whole lot of work and a whole lot of talent.

Here are a few production stills and the final image from a recent food shoot.

Retro-Monday!!!

Back when silver halide crystals dominated pixels and ISO was ASA, I was asked to shoot a poster for The Coterie Theatre in Crown Center.  "The Wrestling Season" is a play that tackles a subject matter seldom addressed but vital to youth and their families: the search for identity and the peer pressure that accompanies it.

I am not sure if it was a good play or not.  I never saw it.  I do know that this project was shot on film (b/w no less) and was put together at Kuhn Wittenborn by Mike Colahan, senior Art Director at the time (Mike and his talents have since moved companies).  Mike added a ton of effects using scans of scratched plastic and other tricks (Photoshop 5?).  The photo is a scan of the original print, then manipulated by me using CS2.  Enjoy!

Shell Study No. 1-The Whelk Shell

I love the ocean and oceanic life.  My daughter, Francie, found this shell on the beach near Gulf Shores, Alabama last summer.  She was so excited!  A brilliant smile on a beautiful face. She's such a dear!

Shot simply on a black background, I like to find the form and contour of the shells. Grouping them together can tell a story or create a mood.

Lifestyle and Still-life Style....

Another wrap on a great shoot.  This one was for my friends at Global Prairie.  Everyone's buddy, Asher Johnson, directed a fabulous shoot.  Anne Fisher provided the food styling, location, and Reilly (our wonderful model), Cindy Moody brought all the props and styled them so perfectly, and Exposure Talent Agency provided the adult model.  Nice work everyone!

New Blog!? Well, not exactly.....

Hello again! Welcome to my "new and improved, somewhat totally updated, pants-dropping, heart stopping, booty shakin'..." Alright, alright. It's a BLOG. It's not brain surgery.

There was an old Blog that was laid to rest last night. It served me well but was also very neglected. This Blog will be updated to serve as the voice of Shaughnessy and Associates Photography. I will be showing off current work as well as cool photos from the archives.

So please visit me often. Show Mr. Blog that you care and email me with your fun comments and suggestions.

Back on-line and on with the show!
